I didn’t find a Yale boy in Pittsburgh, but I am going home to a SCSU boy, and I’m more than ok with that.
Walking through the airport on Monday morning, and listening to Eli Young Band’s song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” I had one of those moments.
You know, the one where you realize you are incredibly lucky to have a sweet job that allows you to travel and attend super important meetings with government officials and be a part of a new business unit that supports our military and veterans.
Yeah. Super lucky. I’m extremely fortunate to have the gig I have, and I know it. I don’t want to be some young hot shot who thinks they’re the pimp shit at their job. I want to be some young social media professional who is eager to learn more and grow a social media program at a Fortune 25 company. Because that’s the opportunity that’s in front of me, and I gotta admit, it’s an awesome feeling. Knowing that I have the flexibility, support and trust behind me to help lead social media in a Fortune 25, $100+billion revenue, 90,000+ employee company.
That’s intimidating for sure. But it excites me to no end. The opportunities are endless, the support is evident at every turn, my coworkers are fabulous, and I honestly love going to work every single day.
“Some dreams stay with you forever, drag you round but bring you back to where you were.
Some dreams keep on getting better, gotta keep believing if you want to know for sure.
Keep on dreaming, even if it breaks your heart.”
